What the result is useful for
Use this before ordering a photo: percentage crop loss is paired with a movable visual crop window and the effective PPI of the pixels that remain, so composition and resolution are checked together.
How the calculation works
For each target print ratio, the checker fits the largest rectangle of that ratio inside the source image, calculates retained area, and derives effective PPI from the retained pixel box and physical print size.
What this calculator cannot know
The preview models rectangular ratio cropping. It does not know a lab’s overscan, printer border, frame lip or automatic face-aware crop. Confirm the final crop in the ordering workflow.
