KDP Paperback Margin & Gutter Calculator
Enter the final page count and whether the interior uses bleed. The result returns the current KDP minimum inside/gutter and outside/top/bottom margin values for that range.
Enter your job values
Use the real values from your job. Optional fields can stay blank; zero should only be used when the value genuinely does not apply.

Inside/gutter margin increases with final page count
| Pages | Inside / gutter | Outside no bleed | Outside with bleed |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24–150 | 0.375 in | ≥ 0.25 in | ≥ 0.375 in |
| 151–300 | 0.5 in | ≥ 0.25 in | ≥ 0.375 in |
| 301–500 | 0.625 in | ≥ 0.25 in | ≥ 0.375 in |
| 501–700 | 0.75 in | ≥ 0.25 in | ≥ 0.375 in |
| 701–828 | 0.875 in | ≥ 0.25 in | ≥ 0.375 in |
These are provider minimums, not a typography target. Use more space where the book design needs it, and recheck KDP before final submission.
What the result is useful for
Use this after trim size and page count are stable so the manuscript layout reserves enough binding-side and trim-side space before export.
How the calculation works
The calculator is a direct lookup of the current KDP page-count bands: inside margin increases at 151, 301, 501 and 701 pages; outside/top/bottom minimum is 0.25 in without bleed or 0.375 in with bleed.
What this calculator cannot know
KDP controls acceptance and can change requirements. Recheck the cited KDP page before final upload, and remember that a readable design may need margins larger than the minimum.
