CSS pixels and print pixels are not the same question
For CSS absolute lengths, the W3C reference relationship is 1 in = 96 px and 1 cm = 96 ÷ 2.54 px. For a raster print, pixel count depends on the chosen PPI. The calculator above lets you choose the context instead of silently assuming one.
What the result is useful for
Use this to translate existing source pixels into a metric physical print length at the selected PPI, while keeping CSS reference conversion as a separate mode.
How the calculation works
Physical centimeters = pixels ÷ PPI × 2.54. The enhanced converter also provides the CSS reference conversion.
What this calculator cannot know
The math can describe pixels, PPI and geometry, but it cannot judge subject detail, sharpening, resampling quality, printer process, media or viewing distance. Use the output provider’s requirement when one exists.
