Start with the blank, not a random chart
Sawgrass publishes reference settings for common substrate categories, but its own troubleshooting guidance treats them as general recommendations. The exact coated blank can require a different time, temperature or pressure.
Transfer paper and substrate are part of the system
Dye-sublimation printing uses transfer media and heat to move dye into compatible coated/polymer materials. Epson’s F170 documentation, for example, specifies its dye-sublimation workflow and transfer paper; normal office-paper assumptions do not apply.
Calibration and repeatability matter
Two heat presses displaying the same set temperature may behave differently at the platen. For repeat production, document the blank supplier, press, measured temperature behavior, pressure method and successful test settings rather than relying only on the display.
