Start with the finished piece and sheet. Add bleed, gutters and press margins only when they apply; the planner tests normal and rotated rectangular layouts.
Press margins & advanced setup
Use actual non-printable/gripper margins from the press or operator. Leaving these at 0 means the whole sheet is treated as geometrically usable.
What the result is useful for
Use this before ordering stock or pricing a job when pieces-per-sheet is not yet known. It exposes whether bleed, gripper margin or rotation changes the economic sheet yield.
How the calculation works
Usable sheet size subtracts the four edge margins. Imposed item size adds twice the bleed. The calculator tests normal and 90°-rotated grids using the gutter, selects the higher yield, then adds the spoilage allowance to required sheets.
What this calculator cannot know
This is a rectangular grid planner, not a RIP or irregular-shape nesting engine. Grain direction, color bars, side guides, creep, cut sequence, mixed jobs and finishing tolerances may require a more conservative production layout.
