Think in three boundaries: bleed, trim and safe area
Bleed protects against small cutting variation. Trim is the intended finished edge. A safe area keeps critical text and logos comfortably inside that edge. The exact requirement should come from the printer or platform producing the job.
Preflight the job in production order
Convert the finished trim size into the artwork canvas size.
Inspect PDF structure or image resolution locally, with detected facts separated from checks that remain inconclusive.
Compare readable TrimBox and BleedBox geometry before opening the file in the full production preflight system.
Confirm the finished piece plus production spacing actually fits the press sheet.
