The template controls the actual offsets
Avery's guidance illustrates the three concepts clearly: the cut/trim line is the final label edge, full-bleed backgrounds extend beyond it, and important content belongs inside the safety area. The numerical offset varies by product/template, so this tool asks you to enter the supplied values instead of hard-coding a universal bleed.

Use this before laying out text, logos or edge-to-edge backgrounds on labels so trim tolerance is visible in the artwork dimensions.
How the calculation works
Artwork width/height add twice the bleed; safe-content width/height subtract twice the safe inset from the finished trim size.
What this calculator cannot know
Bleed and safety values are provider/template specific. Avery’s diagrams explain the concepts, but always use the template/specification for the exact product being ordered.
