Document unwind orientation with a picture, not only a vendor number
Different converters can describe unwind directions differently. Choose how the printed face sits on the roll and which label edge leads toward the applicator, then send the visual description with the job.

- Also specify core ID, maximum roll OD, web width, label repeat/gap and applicator requirements.
- Do not translate this automatically to “unwind 1–8” unless the converter’s own chart uses the same numbering.
What the result is useful for
A picture is safer than relying on vendor-specific numbering such as “unwind 1–8” when different suppliers may label directions differently.
How the calculation works

The converter/applicator specification controls the accepted roll orientation, core, maximum OD and web direction.
