Finishing reality check

Paper bulk, grain and equipment can change the geometry

Booklet creep, fold compensation and spine thickness are physical-production estimates. Whenever a fold, bind, die or laminator controls the finished piece, record the actual stock caliper and the equipment/vendor specification rather than converting GSM to thickness by assumption.

What the result is useful for

This gives designers one documented cover canvas after the binder has established the physical spine.

How the calculation works

Full width = 2 × trim width + spine width + 2 × outside bleed. Full height = trim height + 2 × outside bleed.

What this calculator cannot know

It does not calculate hinge, wrap, board turn-in, case binding or provider-specific KDP dimensions. The printer/binder controls spine and safe zones.
