Finishing reality check

Paper bulk, grain and equipment can change the geometry

Booklet creep, fold compensation and spine thickness are physical-production estimates. Whenever a fold, bind, die or laminator controls the finished piece, record the actual stock caliper and the equipment/vendor specification rather than converting GSM to thickness by assumption.

What the result is useful for

Useful for paper planning, finishing capacity and quote assumptions for ordinary saddle-stitched booklets.

How the calculation works

For simple 4-page folded sheets, sheets per booklet = ceil(page count / 4). Total folded sheets = sheets per booklet × copies.

What this calculator cannot know

This does not choose press-sheet imposition, creep compensation, signatures, trim allowances or spoilage.
